Uhh, just a income tax? Ow wait. They just make it a progressive one or they are only going to tax certain groups, so that is not going to work.I don't really what is a 'fair tax'. Any other ideas guys?
What did the american founders say about a proper role to raise money for government?
low international trade tariffs were sanctioned by the constitution, i believe. and only to maintain government, not create it.
I would think flat taxes work best.Everyone pays the same percentage out of earnings. If the government has to raise more money, they'd then have to raise taxes on everyone (since its flat) which would be a sort of check on excess spending.
I'd like to see more user fees, that way people will pay for services they receive and will have a stake in seeing that those services are delivered efficiently.
well first you have to cut spending, otherwise your options are so limited its not worth the discussion. if you can get the federal government back to only playing the rolls its supposed too, then a 1% tax on all business to business transactions would be easily sufficient. companies buying products from other companies pay a 1% tax. Microsoft wants to buy a new company for $30 Million; 1% to government. taxes on personal income of any kind is wrong.
Aren't all taxes immoral and illegal in a free society? How we morally explain that someone has a monopoly on taking money from certain groups or the whole population. And if we decide that a flat tax is the way to go, who says then that they are not going to raise it or change it into a progressive tax again, where will they stop, what is the limit?
Competing private governments should be funded voluntarily, central coercive governments shouldn't be funded at all but should be abolished.
I'd like to only pay for all thing they provide. 500 for this a year + 6000 for this a year and intotal we end up paying for the services we want. I think Basically there will be some police fire and health must have anyway
US Constitution, Article 1, section 8:The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
No taxes upon the massesno income tax is fair or flat, repeal the castes, depose the fat catthe printing of money is the fiatEven an imaginary debt is still a debtcan't fill a hole by digging more holes.
@ tha-icoclastWhat is your solution then? Anarchy? A society without a government/monopoly?
why would you jump from constitutional republic that requires taxes to run its bloated government to anarchy?we didnt have ANY taxes in this country for the first, what, hundred years?there is a happy medium, its where the federal government only does what its supposed to and is easily funded. and the states do most everything else.if everyone wasnt taxed by force some 30%+ of their income for unknown or worse, nefarious reason and where actually wealthy and living good lives. they would be HAPPY to give their state money willfully to pay for services they could see directly. would everyone? no. would we lose some state/federally run programs? yes. if they where truly necessary would private groups complete the same projects, likely better, and cheaper? abso-fuckin-lutly. the federal government cant even make a profit delivering mail. in fact, it was 2 billion short last year. conversely, look at what the free market did with cell phones. in 10 years the price of a cell phone has dropped at least 50%, has seen a many fold increase in service, usability, and overall quality, and a market share/penetration that would astound anyone. i dont know a single person who does not own a cell phone. you think the federal government could have done that?
Get rid of income tax, cut government drastically and introduce a tax on transactions.
Exactly, don't tax income. Tax extravagant lifestyles!Savings provide wealth, tax consumption. It also lowers the gap between poor and rich.
Guys guys guys.... you all disappoint me. I thought libertarians wanted to cut taxes and replace it with NOTHING! Isn't that what is Ron Paul saying all the time?Ooh and by the way about that consumption tax... read what murray rothbard said about it. http://mises.org/story/1768
as little as possible
Extravagant lifestyles are important too.The luxury of today is the necessity of tomorrow.
Donations? Sounds kinda scary to me. If people or industries are going to give fast amounts of money to the government I think they want some 'special' right in return for that.
Why is this site not being updated any more?
